Falafel and Beer Pairing

One of my favorite snacks is fresh falafel from King of Falafel because each and every item is cooked to order and is extremely flavorful. I was introduced to falafel nearly seven years ago when I moved from California to New York. I had no idea what it was, nor how it tasted, but it was deep-fried and cheap.

Within many cheap eats guides was Mamouns Falafel and I quickly became a fan. Forget that I only had a few dollars to spend each day for dinner because I was eating like a king. Falafel each day and a soda and there wasn’t much a California kid could ask for. Fast forward six years and Mamouns is still good and I regularly visit them, however, King of Falafel in Astoria, Queens makes the best falafel ever. Their careful mix of spices is tasty and healthy (Slightly).

It was not hard to match the crispy, garlic, tastiness with a beer and I went with a hop forward beer by Peak Organic, Fresh Cut. Fresh Cut has a grassy hoppiness that is accompanied by an herbal scent. This beer paired well with a fresh falafel and it will with any herb forward dish.
